The ball matrix, the three-dimensional floating ball matrix (also known as motor array, motor matrix, ball array, vitality matrix, dynamic sculpture, or flying sky) is a display form that combines mechanics and art, which was independently developed and produced by our company in 2009. This system uses thousands of servo motors to drive the decorations to perform vertical up-and-down movements. Through computer programs, various three-dimensional graphic effects can be achieved. In addition, the coordination of lighting, sound media brings audio-visual and visual impacts to the audience. 

We are one of the few technical teams in China that possess this core technology. This exhibition item has a grand and magnificent scene, with strong three-dimensional effects. It can display text, graphics, changing animations, etc. It can be applied in shopping malls, hotels, exhibition halls and other places. 

Three-dimensional floating ball matrix - Successfully developed in 2009 

There are two types: electroplating modeling and luminous balls. They are achieved by using hundreds of servo motors to drive the decorations to perform vertical up-and-down movements. Through computer programs, various three-dimensional graphic effects can be realized. In addition, the coordination of lighting, sound and media brings audio-visual and visual impacts to the audience.

Technical Introduction

The Dynamic Demonstration Exhibit of the Ball Matrix - This exhibit integrates various disciplines such as motion control, servo technology, mechanical structure, computer programming, graphic pixels, visual art, and music performance. Each ball moves orderly under the control of the computer, presenting various dynamic shapes such as curves, surfaces, planes, text, and three-dimensional patterns. The overall effect is like a colorful three-dimensional painting, representing a perfect combination of technology and art. It is the latest achievement in modern art demonstrations using new media today. 

The system uses hundreds of servo motors to drive the decorations to perform vertical up-and-down movements through ropes. Through computer programs, it achieves various changes in three-dimensional graphic effects. Coupled with the coordination of lighting, sound and media, it brings audio-visual and visual impacts to the audience. 

Working principle

A small ball is suspended by a string on the rotor disc of a motor. The forward and reverse rotation of the motor drives the ball to move up and down. If there are 1000 balls in the matrix, then there will be 1000 motors. The motion controller controls 1000 motor drivers, sending different speeds, accelerations, positions and movement times. With these 1000 balls, a spectacular dynamic shape can be displayed.
